I am SO in awe of your translation! It's got a few mistakes (if you want me to go through them with you, poke away <3), but it strikes such a cadence with me - it's got the same emotional tinge as the English original does, but it is coming through stronger in German (not a criticism of the original either, but I've still got to make more of an effort for emotional investment in a language that isn't my native one, so I really appreciate the German version, too.)

But my reaction to both is... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
