Dear Purimgifts Creator
Feb. 4th, 2013 06:38 amSo every year I'm reminded of the existence of
purimgifts too late to sign up for it.
I was just reminded of the existence of
purimgifts. "This always seems like a fun and laid-back challenge," I thought. "Too bad it's probably too late to sign up for it." But I went and checked anyway, and . . . there were four hours until signups closed?
So . . . hi there, Purim gift-giver! Thanks for signing up to make some gifts for me. You are clearly pretty awesome, or at least have good taste in at least one fandom.
What do I like in very short fic and graphics? Well, I like humor, and I like smut (of any gender and number combination, although once you get into the double digits it gets a little confusing), and I like humorous smut, and I even like puns. Crossovers are cool, worldbuilding is awesome, witty banter is never out of place. I like formal poetry? I like families, especially siblings and people-who-might-as-well-be-siblings, and competence porn. Magical adventures are always my favorite, even if they are very short magical adventures.
Now let's take a look at the fandoms I added in a mad rush and try to throw out a sentence or two about each one; favorite characters or whatever.
Aladdin (1992): Oh hey, there's an evil vizier in this! And one female character. Jasmine's cool.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: So, um, speaking of formal poetry, that finishing school teacher or whatever who did the poetry battle with Sokka? Hot. Or Suki, and/or Toph. And Appa got persecuted by an evil vizier once, didn't he? I like Appa.
Avatar: Legend of Korra: Korra/Asami is very cute. So are the airbabies. Lin kicks everyone's ass ever (and I kind of hateship her with Hiroshi Sato.)
Chronicles of Chrestomanci - Diana Wynne Jones: Oh if you are interested in that sort of thing, I'd love to see some of Anthea Tesdinic's fashion designs? Otherwise and in addition this series is full of female characters and I love them all. Gabriel De Witt is only Jewish in my head, that probably doesn't count.
Le Comte de Monte-Cristo | Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas: EUGENIE/LOUISE OKAY. Also I love Haydee and we got to see her be an active agent in her own destiny in the book a bit but not enough.
Cyteen Series - C. J. Cherryh: Ari! (Amy/Quentin?) I . . . don't suppose Giraud and Denys count as evil viziers, do they?
Darkangel Trilogy - Meredith Ann Pierce: Erin, Aeriel, Edouin, Syllva, Sabr. Yes. Also the MOOOOOON!
Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms: Goose Girl? Snow Queen? (Gerda/robber girl, okay?) I don't know, what I like best about fairy tales is the language, the weird yet logical reality, the occasional twisted darkness, and of course the magical adventures. So, that?
Fallen Angels (Marvel Comics): This is the part of the letter where I beg for Chance and Ariel. PLEEEZE write (or draw) me Chance and Ariel?
Girl Genius: Oh look, a canon with actual Jewish characters! So, Hezekiah Donowitz on Castle Wulfenbach: Why is he there, how does he get along? Or Ruxala! (Everyone loves weasels.) Or Zeetha, Sleipnir, the Muses?
Hark! A Vagrant: The Bronte sisters are my favorite. Crazy Nancy Drew and Wonder Woman are also pretty awesome.
Howl Series - Diana Wynne Jones: Flower-in-the-Night please? (I haven't read House of Many Ways yet.)
Knights-Errant (Webcomic): My latest fandom obsession! The archive binge is trivial! I know "anything" is a terrible prompt, but I fear anything more would be spoilers, and since you undoubtedly matched on me for something else . . . anyway, I really would like anything.
Russian Stories - C. J. Cherryh: I love Eveshka okay.
Vorkosigan Saga - Lois McMaster Bujold: Duronas! (Please Duronas?) Terrifying mercenary accountants! Snarky Cetagandan geneticists! Quaddies! I'm a little burnt out on Barrayar, unless you have Aral as the evil vizier. That at least would be different.
Okay, that's all of them? Anyway, if you want to know more I am eminently stalkable; I'm minutia_r or minutia-r everywhere. I'm exhausted and so are you by this point I'm sure. Thank you once again, you are awesome, and I hope you get something tasty for Purim too!
