So, I read A Darker Shade of Magic by V E Schwab and I didn't love it. I had quite a few problems with it, mostly aesthetic ones rather than like, ethical ones (although both Lila and Astrid had the Not Like Other Girls thing going on, but I don't feel like unpacking my whole complicated feelings about the Not Like Other Girls trope and how it plays out here specifically right now).
