Ahhhh I love this! I wasn't thinking about this book when I put the prompt in but then later I was like "oh this has major Witch King vibes" haha. This is such a good exploration of Kai's character, the contrast between how he was raised and the reality of where he's ended up - and how he could have become so much worse. The last stanza in particular packs such a punch!
