Oh man, in a way I love this as a really good folk tale. In another way it is HORRIFYING. I can totally see this as the type of cultural background they have on mutants around there. Oh god, this is so disturbing.
But amazing as a tale anyway. The tone was spot-on, and the structure too, and it had that barrayaran twist to things... Serious, serious love.
