I am so, so sorry about the lateness of this letter; real life happened and also I’ve got to learn to write shorter prompts. I hope you found the vague directions in the placeholder helpful? If you’ve already got an idea for a story and/or have started writing it, I’m sure I will like whatever it is--I mean, clearly you have excellent taste in books, right? But if you’re still looking for guidance, here it is, belated as it might be. (Also you may notice that some of these prompts are longer and more detailed than others; that is totally a function of how much I was hurrying to get this done and not at all a function of which canons I would be more interested in getting fic for.)
A few more general points:
Please do not hesitate to ruin my childhood! (Actually I read most of these books for the first time as an adult; I just like kids’ books, okay.) I am also a dedicated multishipper, so if you want to include a pairing that I haven’t specifically asked for, it’ll be fine. I am not so keen on underage, though, so for the canons that have child characters I’d prefer if you aged them up if they are going to be doing anything more than holding hands and chaste kissing?
(Or you could write gen. I am totally cool with gen.)
I love crossovers, fusions, and canon-divergence AUs, but I don’t like mundane AUs of fantastical canons.
Okay, on to the prompts!
The Darkangel Trilogy - Meredith Ann Pierce
Erin, Irrylath, Roshka, Sabr
The Darkangel Trilogy is written very firmly from Aeriel’s point of view, but at the same time there are all sorts of hints about interesting stories happening when she’s not around--I’d like to see one of those. (Which is not to say that you can’t include Aeriel; I like her a lot and only didn’t include her in my list of requested characters because she isn’t really the main focus of any of the prompts I thought of.)
How did Sabr become the bandit queen of Avaric? What adventures did she and Irrylath have during A Gathering of Gargoyles? What happened to Roshka and Erin after Aeriel left them? How did Erin’s first encounter with the people she was born to go?
Alternatively, if you’d like to write future fic, I’d love to see how an OT4 with Aeriel, Erin, Roshka and Irrylath would work. I’d also be interested in reading about Irrylath and Sabr (and possibly the Avarclon and Talb?) rebuilding Avaric--although I’d prefer gen there, since I’m not completely sold on Irrylath/Sabr. While I have a hard time picturing Sabr in a relationship with Irrylath as anything but a consolation prize--and I’d like to see them both do better than that--I confess I am intrigued by the possibility of Aeriel/Sabr. There’s a point where Aeriel thinks that Sabr is an undamaged version of Irrylath, and I am not convinced that this is actually a reason for Irrylath to be attracted to Sabr--but it is definitely a reason for Aeriel to be attracted to Sabr. On Sabr’s side, I get the feeling that she is attracted to power, and after the events of the trilogy, Aeriel is the power on the moon. I think it would be interesting to read these ladies working past their jealousy and suspicion towards something more . . . mutually satisfactory.
The Dunderheads Series - Paul Fleischman

Incidentally, if you’re having trouble with whatever you matched me on, this is not a bad series to pick up. It’s two picture books (The Dunderheads and The Dunderheads Behind Bars, which I have not actually read yet, though I hope to get my hands on a copy soon) and it is charming as fuck--it’s a bit like what would happen if Roald Dahl and Charles Addams got together to write Ocean’s Eleven for preschoolers.
I’d really love to see casefic for this--some other criminal or semi-criminal caper that the kids pull off. Or else, where do their unique talents take them later in life? I kind of ship Einstein and Hollywood, and would be interested in reading how the somewhat skewed ideas about romance she’s picked up from movies collide with his unconventional approach to problem solving and how both of those things collide with the reality of them being kids trying this out for the first time before they’re quite ready for it. (Whether “this” is grade-school romance or sex or the whole marriage-and-kids-and-building-a-life-together would depend on what stage of their lives you choose to set it.)
Or else, a fandom AU might work well for this series--I mean, it wouldn’t even be an AU, Hollywood is in fandom already or will be when she gets a bit older. Can the other kids help her in her quest to become a BNF?
Fox in Socks - Dr. Seuss
Fox in Socks, Mr. Knox
One of the things you do when you are a parent of a small child is read the same picture books over and over, and one of the things you do when you read the same picture books over and over is think way too much about them. (At least for values of you that include me.)
And this is how I became convinced that Mr. Knox and Mr. Fox are in some sort of (not necessarily sexual) D/s relationship. Why else does Mr. Knox put up with Mr. Fox’s increasingly bizarre and capricious demands? Also, check out this illustration:
I rest my case.
I don’t actually need teen-and-up content for this story, I just put that as the minimum rating because I didn’t want to get matched with someone who wasn’t up for childhood-ruining in this particular canon. If you have a different view of Mr. Knox and Mr. Fox’s relationship, I’d like to read that, too, as long as you answer this question: What other games do Mr. Knox and Mr. Fox play?
The Game - Diana Wynne Jones
Sisyphus, Merope, Hayley, Troy
I’d love to see how Sisyphus, Merope, and Hayley negotiate being a family after the events of the book. Something exploring Hayley’s multiple nature as a more-or-less ordinary young girl, a thousands-of-years-old titaness, and a comet would be really cool--I’d love to see her interact with the luminaries from Dogsbody in that last capacity. Also, Troy is just cool, okay. Tell me how Troy built Troy! Or any of his adventures over the millennia.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Rick Riordan
Bianca Di Angelo, Nico Di Angelo
Give me all the Hades sibling fic! Baby Bianca and Nico fighting monsters? Five games they played at the Lotus Casino? An AU where Bianca lives and Nico dies? As long as they are being fierce and loyal and codependent, I will love it. (If they are being incestuous that’s cool too.) Also Hazel is one of my favorites--I couldn’t request her because she’s not even technically part of this series, but if you want to include her feel absolutely free.
Schooled - Gordon Korman
Zach Powers, Hugh Winkleman, Darryl Pennyfield
Hugh and Zach are such devious little weasels; they totally deserve each other. I will happily read anything about them. My ideal Zach/Hugh story would be one where they're secret boyfriends until a Korman-style katamari of wackiness forces them to a) come out and b) admit they actually like each other, and are not just together because it's easier than anything else. Also, Darryl is adorable and his crush on Cap is adorable; write me Darryl pining for Cap (or even getting Cap!) and I will be a happy camper. Alternatively, I’d be interested in reading about Darryl’s relationship with Zach--how did it start, and how much genuine friendship did Zach ever have for Darryl, other than Zach wanting a minion and Darryl being insecure? How does Darryl move on without Zach as his best friend after the events of the book, or do they manage to rebuild their friendship on a more equal basis? (I would not mind Darryl/Zach either, come to that.)
Super-Extra-Optional Details:
As I’ve mentioned, I’m interested in crossovers in general, and if you happen to be familiar with both Percy Jackson and The Game, I would be absolutely thrilled to get a crossover of those. I realize the universes would need a bit of tweaking in order to align--for one thing Kronos from Percy Jackson would have to be the same character as Hayley’s Granddad--but if you could make it work how awesome would it be to see the heroes from both series on opposite sides of a war? Imagine the build-off between Annabeth and Troy! Hayley keeping one or more of Hades’ children prisoner (turnabout being fair play and all). Or even just an interlude between Hayley and Zoe--they’re both children of Titans, one’s a comet and the other’s a constellation; I’m sure they’d find something to talk about.
